LEDioc ECO ON SHOW AT “SPARC” EXHIBITION TO HERALD EMERGENCE OF PRACTICAL LED LAMPS | | | A LED retrofit reflector lamp with a super light-weight plastic resin body will be a prime attraction at the upcoming SPARC lighting exhibition in Sydney from June 6 to 8.
The “LEDioc ECO” by EYE Lighting exemplifies a third generation of LED products which are emerging to offer practical performance and energy savings.
The R120-shape LEDioc ECO is the first of a series of replacement reflector lamps which are being progressively released to replace incandescent and self-ballasted mercury reflector lamps for outdoor use.
The ECO’s performance is comparable with EYE’s popular 160 Watt self-ballasted mercury reflector lamp. The ECO operates at 18 Watts so the energy-saving potential is enormous at one-tenth the operating cost. The 40,000 average hours rating will also appeal to industrial end-users wishing to lower their maintenance costs.
A big limitation with existing LED retrofit lamp designs has been the bulky and heavy aluminium heat sinks that have been required for cooling. The ECO breaks away from this problem by utilising a patented high-thermal conductivity resin. The finished product is only 340 grams which is similar in weight to the existing reflector lamps they are designed to replace.
The mains-voltage 120mm diameter E27 screw base ECO fits into EYE’s professional quality “K-O” size weatherproof lampholders for outdoor use and does not require a separate ballast or driver. A special sealing collar is available to ensure a weatherproof seal. Of course, this 157mm long compact 240V lamp will find many other uses as well.
It is available in two “colour temperatures” (3000K or 5000k) to create either a warm or a cool lighting effect. Lamps are available for either dark grey or white lamp housings.
